Air Cleaner profiSteril is designed to kill microbes, bacteria and viruses in the air. That is, everywhere where fast and effective air disinfection is needed, but also in an environment where biological materials (pharmaceuticals, laboratories, veterinary facilities, chemical and food industries) are used.
The use of germicidal lamps is one of the most effective methods of disinfection. These devices emit UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm, which has the strongest degradation properties for bacteria, viruses, fungi and all various microorganisms. Due to the high efficiency of the germicidal lamps, they are used at places where high quality microbiological purity is required.
UGO (ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength UV-C ultraviolet radiation to eliminate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA - left them unable to perform vital cellular functions. It has been found that the wavelength range from 250 nm to 270 nm is the radiation with the highest germicidal efficiency. The germicidal effect of UV-C radiation is the absorption of UV radiation energy by nucleic acids and proteins. The absorbed energy induces chemical reactions in the cell nuclei and thus destroys microorganisms. TÜV certified lamps used in the profiSteril emit maximum of their germicidal energy in the range of 250 to 270 nm.
The enclosed type of radiator is used for indirect irradiation of the room, which can be used in the presence of people. The emitter is ozone-free and does not use any chemicals. The germicidal UV-C lamp is safely hidden in the device through which air flows. Contaminated air is sucked by the fan into the disinfection chamber through a filter to collect dust and other contaminants. The intensity of the UV-C lamp and the time during which the air remains in the disinfection chamber are designed so that the air discharged from the device is practically free of microorganisms. The lamp life is 8000 hours, it must be replaced afterwards to keep the efficiency. The rate of air flow through the disinfection chamber is therefore chosen as a compromise between disinfecting as much air volume per unit of time as possible and germicidal efficiency. The air is cleaned every 6 hours due to circulation in the room.

How does it work? Does the device have any certificates?
There is no doubt that our device works. Germicidal emitters have been used in medical practice to sterilize surfaces, instruments and air for almost 100 years, so their functionality is determined by the physical nature of UV-C radiation. The most effective wavelength for the elimination of microorganisms is 253.7 nm. The radiators that we use in our devices are designed for this wavelength. The technical properties of the tubes are guaranteed by renowned manufacturers PHILIPS and OSRAM. The exposure times required for elimination of microorganisms are set on the results of UV-C radiation research done by the world's leading scientific institutions. HDT Impex company holds the ISO13485 certificate - a quality certificate for the production of medical devices and equipment. Our air sterilizers possess protocols of Measurement of emissions according to the standards EN 55014-1: 2017, EN 61000-3-2: 2014, EN 61000-3-3: 2015 and immunity tests according to the standard EN 55014-2: 2015. In addition, we had performed an independent testing at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice (SVK), where the tests to measure the effectiveness of our sterilizers in the real environment of farm animals with a high concentration of microorganisms in the air were completed with fantastic results. Where are harmful viruses and bacteria eliminated from the sterilizer to?
In the case of viruses and bacteria, their DNA structure is disrupted due to radiation to such an extent that they are no longer harmful. Vast majority of them is completely eliminated (more than 90%).
Can UV-C radiation from a sterilizer have a harmful effect on human health?
Of course, the radiation has a harmful effect, but the UV-C fluorescent lamp is stored inside the device so that its radiation cannot endanger anyone. At the same time, thanks to the branded UV-C sources from Philips and Osram, no harmful ozone is released. Unfortunately, it may not be the case with the non-branded fluorescent lamp replacements.
What are the additional costs of operating the device? Eg. UV tube replacement, cleaning, etc.
Replacing the UV-C source is easy and we recommend to follow the procedure in the user manual. Replacement is required after 8,000 hours, which is the stated source life. There are no filters in the device to reduce noise and maximize the fan capacity to ensure continuous air sterilization. When replacing the UV-C source, it is advisable to clean the interior with a dry cloth or vacuum it.
Does the device have to be switched on continuously to clean the air every 6 hours? Is it necessary to switch it off, eg at night?
We recommend to have the appliance turned on only if people are staying in the room. At night, when there is no one in the room, traffic is useless. The source life is also determined by the method of use. E.g. in the office with 9 working hours a day and the appliance operating only during these working days, there is aprox. lifetime of 3.5 years, in the school classrooms the lifetime should be over 5 years taking holidays into consideration, on the other hand, in non-stop hospital-type operations it is less than a year
What is the device warranty? Will you provide me with free service in case of failure within the legal period? Where is the service performed?
The standard warranty is 2 years and service is performed in our service center in Karlovy Vary.
Is it possible to see the device in operation somewhere? Do you have any references?
The device is currently being launched on the market and the first 1000 pieces were sold out in one week. Soon we will display and promote references that we are really proud of. In the meantime, the device can be seen in our official store in Karlovy Vary.
Is the device noisy? Can it be used in the bedroom while one is asleep?
Noise is conditioned by the fans used in the devices. We use silent fans, which are standardly used in computer technology. For the supplied types, the noise increases with the power of the device. For clarity, they are no noisier than your fridge you have in the kitchen.
How do I know that the efficiency of the device is decreasing or a part needs to be replaced? Is there a service light on the machine?
For a period of 8,000 operating hours, the decrease of maximum 15% in the power of the UV-C source is guaranteed by a reputable manufacturer. That represents a sufficient reserve for the full efficiency of the device. We are working on implementing the service light to the next version of profiSteril
May I put the veil down and communicate with people in the room without fear when the sterilizer is running?
We do not recommend that. The protective veil increases prevention, as is the case with our device.
